Patient Safety

The Centre for Mental Health recently collaborated with the Partnership for Safe Medicines on an extensive research project that looked into the issue of parallel drug trade and uncovered a growing problem of European counterfeit drug production and distribution. The groups found that European counterfeit drug operations are increasingly becoming trans-national.  Many of the criminal activities highlighted in the new portfolio were taking place in the same arena as parallel trade, which allows a medicine manufactured in one country to be imported into another for public consumption. Drug counterfeiting is also becoming a major issue of concern for patient groups and other non-governmental organizations.

If you would like to receive an information pack and/or support our campaign please email us. Jim Thomson, CEO of the Centre for Mental Health is also the European Liaison for the Partnership for Safe Medicines and one of the UK's most prolific campaigners on this subject. If you would like to attend Jim's next speaking engagement or engage his services please email us.

European Depression Day

The European Depression Association (EDA) was formed with a strong focus on raising awareness of Depression at a European level through the annual European Depression Day campaign. Each participating country has a representative who provides the secretariat for the European Depression Day at a local level, promoting the campaign in their country and recruiting advisors to the scientific advisory board. In the UK, the representative is the Centre for Mental Health's Amelia Mustapha. The fundamental principle behind the EDA is that through collaborative working we can maximise resources, react strategically, lobby effectively, and create a better environment for those affected by depression .

The date of the 3rd European Depression Day is to be confirmed.
